Georgetown is the county seat of Williamson County, about 35 miles north of Austin on I-35. Its courthouse square and surrounding historic district, Southwestern University near downtown, the Sun City Texas retirement community and a band of newer subdivisions to the west and north make it a city with an unusually wide range of property.
We are a Smoke Damage Public Adjuster serving policyholders throughout Texas, including Georgetown, as part of Rise Public Adjusting LLC (TDI License #3356839). We do not have a Georgetown office and have no local staff here. We represent owners in their smoke and fire claims.
Three kinds of Georgetown property, three kinds of smoke claim
Historic homes and buildings near the square
Georgetown's historic district includes Victorian-era homes and older commercial buildings around the courthouse square. Older buildings often have plaster walls, original wood trim and flooring, and building materials that are harder to match. When smoke and soot reach these surfaces, the discussion with the carrier may involve whether finishes can be cleaned or must be replaced, and what a like-kind replacement actually looks like. Downtown businesses in shared-wall buildings also face smoke moving in from a neighboring space.
Sun City Texas
Sun City Texas is a large age-restricted community that makes up more than a third of Georgetown's population. Many owners there have lived in their homes a long time and have accumulated furniture, artwork, clothing and keepsakes. In a smoke claim, the contents side can be as significant as the building. Our smoke-damaged contents page and contents RCV/ACV calculator explain how contents are usually listed and valued.
Newer subdivisions and the western edge
West of I-35, Georgetown pushes into cedar and oak country toward Liberty Hill and Leander. New subdivisions border ranchland and undeveloped brush, while Southwestern University and student rentals add another layer of housing close to downtown.
Hill Country wildfire and smoke
Georgetown sits where the Blackland Prairie meets the Hill Country. The Texas A&M Forest Service defines the wildland-urban interface as the area where development is next to or mixed with undeveloped wildland, and says these areas are often at the highest risk of wildfire damage. Its Texas Wildfire Risk Assessment Portal lets owners look up wildfire threat data by location.
For a claim, that matters in two ways. A grass or brush fire near a neighborhood can damage fencing, exteriors and landscaping, and push smoke into homes. And even distant fires can leave residue and odor inside a house, especially one with an HVAC system that pulled in outside air. These smoke-only claims often rely on careful documentation, since the damage is not always visible. See smoke odor claims and HVAC smoke damage for more.
Whether any particular smoke event is covered depends on the policy language and the facts, not on general rules.
Our role
We are not a restoration company. We do not clean, test, remediate or rebuild. Our work is the claim:
What a public adjuster does on a Georgetown claim
- Reviews the policy and the coverage that applies to the loss
- Documents structure, systems and contents, including rooms away from the fire
- Reviews the insurance company's estimate for what it includes and omits
- Prepares and presents the claim with organized supporting information
- Requests closer review of items that appear to be missing or undervalued
For a step-by-step view, see our smoke damage claim process. If your carrier has already made a decision, denied and underpaid smoke damage claims explain what a review usually looks at.

Is there a Smoke Damage Public Adjuster office in Georgetown?
No. We serve the whole state without local offices. We work with Georgetown clients by phone and email and at the property when a claim requires it.
My older home has original wood floors and trim. Will the insurer replace them?
It depends on your policy, the extent of the damage, and whether the materials can be restored. These are exactly the items worth documenting carefully and discussing with the carrier.
I live in Sun City and have a lot of belongings. How are contents handled?
Contents are usually listed item by item with descriptions, ages and values. Your policy determines whether they are paid at actual cash value, replacement cost, or both in stages.
Can wildfire smoke from miles away cause a claim?
Smoke from distant fires can leave residue and odor. Whether it leads to a covered claim depends on your policy and evidence of physical damage.
