Longview is the seat of Gregg County, and the city extends east into Harrison County. Like much of East Texas, it was transformed by the East Texas Oil Field in the 1930s. Its industrial base grew again in 1950, when Eastman Kodak chose a site near Longview for what became the Texas Eastman chemical plant. Eastman's Longview operation, which sits in Harrison County, remains the city's largest manufacturer.
Smoke Damage Public Adjuster is the smoke and fire claim practice of Rise Public Adjusting LLC (TDI License #3356839). We represent policyholders, not insurers. We have no office in Longview; we work with property owners throughout Texas.
How Longview's building stock affects a smoke claim
Oil-boom and mid-century homes. Longview's older neighborhoods include homes from the oil boom and the post-war decades, many with pier-and-beam foundations, attics that connect to wall cavities, and original or partly updated finishes. Smoke tends to settle in those hidden spaces, and a quick walk-through can miss it.
Newer subdivisions. North Longview and the growth toward Hallsville and White Oak include newer homes with open layouts, where smoke and odor spread through the main living area and HVAC system quickly.
Rentals and multifamily. Apartments, duplexes and rental houses serve workers, students at LeTourneau University and Kilgore College's Longview campus, and families. The owner's policy and the tenants' policies usually cover different property.
Industrial and commercial. Longview has manufacturing, oilfield service, fabrication and distribution businesses along its highway and rail corridors, plus a regional retail and medical center. Smoke in a shop or warehouse can affect equipment, stock and records. Those items need their own documentation, separate from the building. See commercial smoke damage claims.
Smoke from outside the property
Longview is surrounded by pine and hardwood forest, and like the rest of the Piney Woods it faces wildfire and brush fire risk in drought years. It also sits near industrial facilities. When smoke comes from somewhere other than your property, the damage can be subtle: residue on window screens and siding, soot in air returns and ductwork, and odor in carpet, upholstery and clothing.
Whether that damage is covered depends on the policy wording and what the evidence shows. We document smoke where it shows up rather than assuming it stopped at the property line. Note that our work is limited to first-party claims under your own policy; claims against a company or neighbor that caused a fire are liability matters we do not handle.
Regional weather
East Texas sees severe spring storms, and some properties carry earlier wind or hail claims. Records of past repairs help separate a new smoke loss from older damage.
How we help Longview policyholders
We are public adjusters, not restoration contractors. We do not clean, demolish or rebuild. We:
- Review the policy and the carrier's correspondence
- Inspect and document smoke, soot and odor throughout the property
- Prepare an estimate and a contents or inventory list
- Present the claim with organized supporting information
- Compare the carrier's estimate with the documented scope and request a closer review where items appear to be missing
Our smoke damage claims page gives a broader overview. No outcome is guaranteed.

My shop has smoke damage but the fire was next door. Can I file a claim?
You may be able to file under your own policy if smoke or soot reached your building or property. What is covered depends on the policy language and the documented damage.
Do you handle claims against a plant or business that caused smoke damage?
No. We work only on first-party claims under the policyholder's own insurance.
Do you have staff in Longview?
No. We serve policyholders throughout Texas and do not maintain local offices or staff in individual cities.
Will you clean my house after the claim?
No. We are not a restoration company. We document and present the insurance claim.
